Are you interested in matters of the heart?
You could look into the hearts of patients every day as an expert in cardiac sonography.
You will have the ability to choose a job in one of the fastest growing segments of the health sciences field when you complete Kirtland’s Cardiac Sonography program at the M-TEC site in Gaylord. You will be employable in almost any community you choose to live in throughout your lifetime as a medical professional specializing in cardiovascular care.
Kirtland’s first-rate Cardiac Sonography program will give you what you need to develop expertise in diagnosing heart disease before it claims another life.
Cardiac sonography is the use of ultrasound imaging to examine a patient’s heart and diagnose any life-threatening illness or condition. It is performed by sonographers trained in identifying visual and auditory symptoms or irregularities of the heart. You may find yourself using your skills in a:
- hospital
- physician’s office
- laboratory or
- educational institution
Jobs in the sonography field are expected to grow by 19 percent through 2016. Median annual earnings for medical sonographers were reported to be $57,160 in 2006, according to federal jobs statistics. Additional growth is expected in the field as sonography becomes an attractive alternative to other imaging technologies.
As a graduate of Kirtland’s Cardiac Sonography program you may be eligible to apply to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) to obtain your registry.
Kirtland’s two-year associate in applied science program zeroes in on cardiac sonography, providing you with intensive training in ultrasound to examine the heart. You’ll emerge from KCC’s concentrated instruction with in-depth knowledge and expertise in working with the heart, and better prepared to join the charge against heart disease.
