Tired of tinkering on everybody’s toys and trading favors?

Ready to make a real living at it?

From motorcycles to personal watercraft, snowmobiles and other ATVs, recreational vehicles — outdoor toys — need to be maintained and repaired.

You could meet the growing demand for trained experts with specialized skills and education through Kirtland’s Outdoor Power Engines program.

Job prospects are excellent for people who complete formal training programs. Employers prefer to hire mechanics that have knowledge of multiple types of engines and emissions-reducing technology as the government increases regulation of the emissions produced by small engines.

KCC’s unique OPE program prepares students for employment as repair technicians for recreational vehicles and other two- and four-cycle engines. The program includes:

  • competency-based learning experiences
  • hands-on labs and
  • internship opportunities

You’ll concentrate on the overall function of engines and diagnose or troubleshoot issues for repair.

You will have far-reaching opportunities for employment or transfer for further study with the nationally accredited and recognized educational leader in the field: Universal Technical Institute (UTI).

You don’t have to wait two years or more to start your career in this field. You can choose to complete a certificate in about a year and then go on to earn your associate’s degree and become even more attractive to potential employers — not just your friends and family.
