You gotta have art!

(Some gotta have income too.)

Kirtland’s Studio Arts program will help you hone your skills for personal enrichment or make your passion marketable — it’s up to you.

Your associate’s in fine arts degree from Kirtland can be your first step toward finding work in the field or polishing your talent so you can have more confidence when selling your photos, paintings or sculptures.

Whether you’d like to pursue art for enjoyment or as a career, there’s a place for you in the Studio Arts program at Kirtland. You might create works of art as a form of self-expression or use your talent while working for an advertising agency, publisher or manufacturer. As a visual artist, you might work in:

  • an art or design studio
  • an office
  • a shared studio/exhibit space or
  • your own home

Our world is becoming more visually oriented and graphically based all the time. Everything from the appearance of control panels on a piece of machinery to the design of Web sites on the Internet is created by people who have artistic talents.

Today’s computers make it easier to create images and products that visually stand out from the crowd. The need to hire artists is growing because there is more competition and businesses want their products to look good.

If you’re interested in transferring to a four-year college, Kirtland’s faculty will work with you to

  • identify and meet transfer requirements
  • compile your portfolio
  • find and apply for scholarships
  • gain field experience and
  • learn about job opportunities in your area of interest

Next thing you know, you’ll be one of those highly successful people doing what they love for a living — or a really polished artist with some college-level training under your belt.
