See yourself in scrubs?

You’ll be supporting surgeons and making sure patients are safe when you earn the right to wear the unique gear of an operating technician.

Kirtland Community College will help you prepare for a successful and satisfying career in Surgical Technology.

According to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, in 2006, more than 2,700 people were employed throughout the state as surgical technologists. That number is expected to grow to nearly 3,300 by 2016. Nationally, the average annual salary is about $38,000.

As a KCC student in the Surgical Technology program at our West Branch location, you will be trained to work with surgeons and other medical personal to ensure a safe environment, including monitoring equipment to maximize every patient’s well-being during invasive and diagnostic procedures.

KCC will have you ready for entry-level employment as a surgical technologist because of your understanding of:

  • anatomy
  • physiology
  • pharmacology
  • medical terminology and
  • professional ethics

Regardless of whether you choose to earn a certificate (in about a year) or an associate’s degree in Surgical Technology at Kirtland, you’ll be ready to support the welfare of patients and assist other medical professionals as part of a surgical team and wear your scrubs with pride.
