Ready to make some sparks fly with a new career?

You won’t believe what technology has done to welding.

The time-honored profession has answered the call of industrial science. It has evolved from the blacksmith's forge and anvil to the newest in plasma and laser technology. Researchers and engineers with roots in the welding trades are developing methods used to adhere and bond modern plastics.

Who knows what materials industrial research will develop in the coming years, but one thing is certain: welders will be there and you could be one. You might make new materials usable in ways you only could imagine today.

Kirtland’s Welding and Fabrication program is delivered at the M-TEC in Gaylord and is delivered via FLEX.

FLEX is an open learning environment designed for you to work at your own pace in close collaboration with Kirtland instructors at M-TEC. This flexible system allows you to complete course work more rapidly if you choose to do so.

The open entry FLEX feature of means that you can:

  • register for courses whenever KCC is open
  • start at any time
  • end at any time and
  • advance with as much or as little instructor contact as you need

You could start your career in this expanding field after completing a certificate in about a year and then go on to earn your associate’s degree.

Some careers that were once prosperous now are obsolete; such is not the case with welding. During the last century the trade has adapted and grown.

If you’re ready to bond with new technologies and the challenges they bring, KCC’s Welding and Fabrication program is a perfect fit.
