Kirtland Community College is partnering with Grand Valley State University to bring a 9-week program that equips would-be entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to launch a new business. The Co.STARTERS series will be held on Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the Kirtland West Branch site (2479 S M-76) from Sept. 15 – Nov. 9 and includes a light meal each week. The cost to attend is $149 for community members and $25 for Kirtland students. A $25 early bird discount is currently being offered for community members and a limited number of scholarships are available as well.
Co.STARTERS will give participants the tools to become successful, self-sufficient small business owners,” said Clay Horton, Kirtland’s Director of Community Education. “This program has a proven track record of guiding people to the point where they can be successful entrepreneurs – and by success we mean making money.”
The program is facilitated by an experienced entrepreneur and you’ll learn how to start smartly and strongly even with limited cash flow. Team building, good business practices, goal setting, the importance of building and maintaining good customer relationships and human resource topics are all examples of the wide range of important business issues to be covered.
The 9-week session includes the following topics:
Session 1: Knowing yourself
Session 2: Knowing Your Customer
Session 3: Getting the Relationship Right
Session 4: Building the Model to Scale
Session 5: Strengthening Your Structure
Session 6: Discovering the Bottom Line
Session 7: Accounting for Growth
Session 8: Planning for the Future
Session 9: Pitch night
