Kirtland Community College will host a college fair on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. Representatives from over 40 colleges and universities will be on-hand to provide information to people interested in attending college next fall.
High school students, parents and others are encouraged to attend this annual event being held in the Student Center on Kirtland’s main campus near Roscommon. College Fair 2015 offers students and parents the opportunity to talk to college representatives and collect information needed to make informed choices. “We encourage families, not just high school students, to attend and get involved in education decisions,” says Ryan Madis, student recruitment specialist at Kirtland.
In addition to Kirtland Community College, representatives from colleges and universities across the state are scheduled to attend, including: Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan State University, Oakland University, Saginaw Valley State University and the University of Michigan. Representatives from several military branches are also scheduled to be in attendance. This collaborative event provides an opportunity for prospective students learn more about a variety of school and career opportunities available both locally and across the state.
“Kirtland’s College Night is a great opportunity for our local communities to visit our campus and talk to Kirtland representatives about our programs firsthand. Kirtland has the lowest in-district tuition rates in northern Michigan,” says Madis. “Students and their parents don’t always realize that all of the pre-requisite requirements can be completed at Kirtland at a fraction of the cost. You can save money whether you’re pursuing a college advanced training or a degree to secure better employment or preparing to transfer to a four year college for additional study.”
