Kirtland Community College is offering a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) class on October 7-8, 2016. The two-day training will be held on Kirtland’s main campus near Roscommon and costs $125/regular rate and $106/senior rate for people over age 60. Registration forms must be submitted and fees are due at the first class. There is a maximum enrollment of 12 participants.
The CPL training is designed to accommodate a wide range of skill levels, from the beginner who has never handled a handgun to the experienced shooter. Kirtland’s CPL course has been certified by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and meets the CPL civilian training requirements of Public Act 381. Completion of the course does not guarantee the participant will be granted a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
The 12-hour course is comprised of eight hours of classroom and four hours of outdoor shooting range training. Classroom training will be held on Friday, October 7 from 6-10 p.m. Outdoor firearms range training is Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m.-6p.m. Handguns and ammunition are provided in the cost of the registration fee. If participants choose to bring a personal weapon, you must also supply your own ammunition. Participants must provide personal eye and ear protection, attend the entire course and be within six months of your 21st birthday or older. Weather appropriate clothing is required for the outdoor firearms training.
