An interview committee selected Ruggero Dozzi to serve on the Kirtland Community College Board of Trustees at a special meeting on Feb. 23, 2015. The appointment fills the vacancy created following former Trustee Kathryn Wallace’s resignation which the Board approved in January.
Dozzi will serve as Kirtland’s newest Board Trustee when he is formally appointed at the Board’s regular meeting on Apr. 21. Dozzi is the Director of Special Education for C.O.O.R. ISD in Roscommon and resides in West Branch, Mich.
“It is an honor to be able to help the current Kirtland Trustees set the course for creating and delivering transformational education for the next 50 years,” Dozzi said. “I look forward to using my passion for helping our students to have options which will create a better tomorrow for themselves and our communities.”
Dozzi has a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, a master’s degree from Northern Michigan University and has extensive experience serving on a variety of professional association boards. He has also served in the Kirtland Community College Foundation Board since 2001 until the present, a position he will vacate in order to serve on Kirtland’s Board of Trustees.
The selection committee, comprised of Kirtland Trustees Mary Ann Ferrigan, Dave Dougherty, Donnelle Napier and Ed Pearen, were in unanimous agreement to appoint Dozzi to the board vacancy. “The committee felt his interest in serving as a board member will be a strong addition and fundamental to improving educational opportunities for students,” stated Mary Ann Ferrigan, Board Chair.
