Get your EMS training at Kirtland Community CollegeIf you are interested in being a Basic EMT or Paramedic in the Public Safety industry, Kirtland Community College will prepare you for the day-to-day challenges of your career path.

Kirtland now offers an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) degree. Imbedded in the EMS degree are the Basic EMT and Paramedic courses, including general education requirements.

Car accidents. Medical emergencies. House fires. No matter the circumstances, when an emergency strikes, lives are on the line. Emergency medical technicians and paramedics are often the first to the scene and the last line of defense against tragedy.  EMTs and paramedics work side by side with police officers and firefighters to provide the best all-around care in emergency situations.

Kirtland Community College EMS degreesWith Kirtland’s Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Emergency Medical Services, you’ll learn the skills you need to succeed in a rewarding career as a critical public servant responsible to provide aid including:

  • On-scene care and transport
  • Pre-hospital care and
  • Operating complex medical and safety equipment

Kirtland’s Paramedic and EMT training courses are pending approval by the Michigan Department of Community Health. The entire EMS program is in the process of being accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in conjunction with the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professionals.  Plus, our qualified instructors will share decades of combined real-world experience with you.  Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to take the state licensure exam for EMT and Paramedic.

All candidates must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better, with a grade of C or better in all emergency services courses. A mandatory dress code is in effect for all students enrolled in the emergency services curriculum. Students have the opportunity to plan for transfer to a four-year college or university.

Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university must consult with an advisor and carefully study the requirements of the four-year institution from which they intend to secure a bachelor’s degree.
