Admission Standards and Procedures

Qualified students who have applied to Kirtland Community College are not automatically enrolled in the Honors Program. Interested students must contact the Honors Program Office by mail, e-mail, phone, or in person to request application materials. Contact Terry Geary at terry.geary@kirtland.edu for an application.

Candidates for admission to the Kirtland Honors Program must:

  1. be enrolled at Kirtland.
  2. submit a completed application and transcript release form.
  3. submit two letters of recommendation from either college faculty or high school teachers or counselors.
  4. submit an original essay conforming with stated guidelines.
  5. have completed twelve (12) college-level credit hours (at Kirtland or elsewhere) with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or be a high school graduate with a minimum high school grade point average of 3.50. Transcripts must be submitted via the registrar’s office at Kirtland.
