Kirtland Community College’s (Kirtland) November blood drive brought forward a great group of heroes who, once again, helped to exceed the goal of collecting 40 or more units of blood. Fifty-one people attempted to donate, of which 15 were first-time donors. Kirtland’s Cosmetology students were especially instrumental in the success of the blood drive, helping to make the collection of a total of 44 usable units possible.
Kirtland blood drive organizer Lynn Taylor extended appreciation to all of the volunteers who provided valuable assistance by loading and unloading the van, baking cookies, hanging posters and much, much more. Special thanks to David Kaminsky, David Karbowski, Jesse Karbowski, Rachael Vandeven, Don Wray, and Joe Wray for their help in making this event a success. The Kirtland Cosmetology Department, the Kirtland Center for Performing Arts and the Kirtland Bookstore are to be applauded as well for prizes and gifts donated for a raffle contest. Future blood drives are tentatively planned for January and April, 2012.
