KCC seeks nominations for ‘Outstanding Alumnus’

ROSCOMMON – The Kirtland Community College Alumni Committee is seeking nominations for the “2011 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year,” with the deadline for the submissions set for early April.

The alumnus selected will be recognized and speak briefly at the college’s upcoming 2010-11 commencement ceremony Friday, April 29. The name of the person honored will also be added to a plaque that hangs in the Administration Center on the college’s main campus near Roscommon.

Selection criteria include additional education beyond the Kirtland experience, professional accomplishments, involvement in community activities, leadership and post-degree involvement with Kirtland or in the field of education. The nominee must have graduated from Kirtland in 2001 or before, with a certificate of completion or associate’s degree.

Nominations should consist of the name of the nominee and information addressing the selection criteria to support the nomination. Candidates may nominate themselves or someone else. Former nominees who have not been selected previously are welcome to have their names resubmitted for consideration.

Annually, about 3,200 students attend a variety of certificate and two-year degree programs at Kirtland’s four locations – near Roscommon and the Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Gaylord, as well as sites in Grayling and West Branch – with the college’s service area including all or parts of Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Otsego, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Gladwin and Alcona counties, and the surrounding areas.
