Ferris State University President, Outstanding Alumna to Address Graduates
Kirtland Community College will honor 140 graduates at its 43rd commencement ceremony on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Ferris State University President Dr. David L. Eisler will deliver the commencement address to the Class of 2012, and former Kirtland Community College graduate Carlee Allen will be recognized as Outstanding Alumna.
Dr. Eisler has been president at Ferris State University since July 2003. He works to advance the University’s mission of preparing students for successful careers, responsible citizenship and life-long learning. Throughout the institution, Dr. Eisler stresses the importance of the University’s core values of Collaboration, Diversity, Ethical Community, Excellence and Learning.
His thirty-five years of academic experience have forged Dr. Eisler’s belief in the importance of higher education as a catalyst for economic development, the need for convenient and affordable access to high quality education, and the role this learning can play as a gateway for individual growth, development and success. Dr. Eisler has been heavily involved in community service throughout his career, believing strongly that service is an important component of the educational experience.
Outstanding Alumna Carlee Allen graduated from Kirtland Community College in 1986, transferring to Ferris State University and graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Allen earned her Master’s in Educations Leadership from Central Michigan University. After serving as Business Manager in the Boyne City Schools, Allen joined the Gaylord Community Schools in 2002 where she is Director of Business and Finance. Her experience in the educational setting, combined with her own dedication to growth and learning formed Allen’s decision to build her career in education.
