Kirtland Session Explores Careers in Radiography

Kirtland Community College (Kirtland), in partnership with Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC), will host an informational session on its main campus near Roscommon designed to help persons interested in radiography learn more about this exciting career field.

John Skinner, director of radiography at MMCC in Harrison, will explain the program and answer questions at an information meeting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Room 15 of Kirtland’s Instructional Center (INS).

The radiography program is a collaborative effort offered by Kirtland and MMCC, enabling graduates to obtain an associate’s degree in applied science. The program is designed to prepare graduates to function as members of the health team in hospitals, clinics, government and military installations, industry and public health.  In addition to classroom instruction and laboratory practice, students receive on-the-job practical education at Grayling Mercy Hospital or West Branch Regional Medical Center.

Annually, more than 3,000 students attend a variety of certificate, two-year and transfer degree programs at Kirtland’s three locations – near Roscommon, the M-TEC at Kirtland-Gaylord and West Branch – with the college’s service area including all or parts of Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Otsego, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Gladwin and Alcona counties, and the surrounding areas.  Kirtland also offers a wide range of online certificate and degree programs, all of which can be completed from home.

Kirtland provides open access to education and cultural opportunities to enrich the lives of the people in Northern Michigan.  The faculty and staff of Kirtland seek to offer higher education in a student-focused environment, providing transfer and career technical programs; developmental studies; workforce development; personal enrichment and cultural opportunities.
