Kirtland Library Circulation Policies
- Circulation privileges are available to all Kirtland students and staff,
and to the community at large under the following conditions:
- A registration card is filled out and kept on file at the library.
- Those using the library agree to return materials promptly or pay
appropriate fines and replacement costs for lost or damaged materials.
- Faculty may have special checkout privileges for the materials related
to their teaching, at the discretion of the director of the library.
- Loan periods for most books are 4 weeks with 1 renewal. Books
designated for shorter checkouts because of high demand, usually 7 days, may
not be renewed unless permission is given by a librarian.
- Audio books, both tape and CD, circulate under the same rules as print books.
- Most videos are for classroom use only and do not circulate to the
general public. Those that do circulate have a 7 day checkout, with no
renewal.
- Reserve checkout times are determined by the instructor and may be used
only by students taking the class designated for the reserve items.
- Periodicals, vertical file items, and reference books do not circulate.
- Patrons who are not students or faculty will be restricted to 2 items
for their first checkout. After they have established a good record
with the library, they may check out up to 6 items. They may not check
out limited circulation items or reserve materials.
- Students may check out as many items as are needed for an assignment.
Some restrictions may be imposed if many students need materials from the
same area.
- Those who have overdue items or bills can not check out anything until
those items are returned or paid for and all bills are paid.
