ROSCOMMON – Members of the Athletics Department at Kirtland Community College would like to demonstrate their support for junior college athletes in the South whose educations were disrupted by Hurricane Katrina. To do this, the Kirtland Firebirds men’s team is playing an exhibition game against Lambtom College (Sarnia, Ontario) at the CRAF Center in Roscommon on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. The public is invited and donations will be accepted at the door.
The game is being encouraged by the National Junior College Athletic Association, to which Kirtland is a member, to help student athletes whose lives have been disrupted by the hurricane to stay in school.
The NJCAA will earmark 100 percent of all funds collected to be distributed to the student-activities departments of member colleges in the South in an attempt to help them offset some of the expenses that have been incurred due to the hurricane.
For more information, call the Kirtland Athletics Department at 989-275-5000, ext. 385.
