Our surgical tech grads have passed their statewide certification exams for several years in a row — the entire life of our program.
Sustaining successful graduation rates in a rigorous field for years is unusual for a college. The success of our students is a direct result of the quality of our program and our instructors.
Are you ready to exceed your future employer’s expectations? You will — in a job you’ll easily find in the growing healthcare field. If you’re thinking about working in healthcare, consider registering for our surgical tech program right now.
You’re going to get a great job! Did you know, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a surgical technician makes an average of more than $44,000 a year? Plus, the field is expected to grow by 15% before 2024. That’s much faster than the average job growth!
When you choose our accredited Surgical Tech program, you will be ready for the surgical tech state exams. You’ll be taught, coached and mentored by instructors that care about you — and the quality of healthcare. The better surgical technologist you are, the better the healthcare field will be!
Surgical technologists support the work of surgeons and make sure patients are safe. They assist in surgical operations under the supervision of a surgeon, registered nurses and other surgical staff members. They sometimes become a member of an operating room team.
As a surgical tech grad, you’ll be more than ready for a successful career. Our Health Sciences Center (HSC) on 4 Mile Road, just east of I-75, south of Grayling, is putting our school’s health sciences programs on the map. All the health-related programs we offer are held in the HSC, which runs very much like a hospital or healthcare facility.
The building is designed so all students in every area of study interact. There’s a fully equipped surgery room – just like a real hospital. Another very cool training tool you’ll learn on is our anatomage table. You’ll look into a digital “table” with a digital, virtual body in it. Instructors are able to program the digital “patient” to have an endless range of health issues. You’ll examine the patient, diagnose its ailments and make recommendations for patient care.
You’ve probably never seen one in person; there only are two others in the state of Michigan. We actually have TWO anatomage tables (one is horizontal and the other is vertical)! Learning on these tables will put you way ahead of our peers. All your books will be easily accessible on an iPad — there’s even an app that will let you practice the same, real-life surgical procedures you’ll be learning about in class. You’ll be more than ready to be an important part of any patient’s surgery team!
Our Surgical Technology program includes clinicals at hospitals and diagnostic labs — so you’ll be ready to use your skills in a doctor’s office, hospital, lab or in higher education.
We prepare students for entry-level employment as a surgical technologist. The program will give you an understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology and professional ethics.
Earning a certificate in surgical technology takes about a year. Earning it through us translates into being readier than ready for the state exam, and even more ready to accept that first amazing job offer.
