What is the VWC?
The VWC provides face to face writing assistance in an online setting. It allows current Kirtland students, faculty and staff the opportunity to share their writing or questions about writing and receive immediate feedback from a Kirtland faculty writing tutor.
As with in-person tutoring, tutors are available to help students improve their writing. Studies have shown that face-to-face tutoring is more effective; however, there are times when it is not possible to drive to a location to meet with a tutor in person. The VWC allows the creation of an online meeting room so that students are able to share their paper and still talk to and ask questions of a writing tutor.
All who wish to make use of the VWC are required to complete a very short orientation. Access the Canvas course –Virtual Writing Center by signing-up through this link: https://kirtland.instructure.com/enroll/3YF677
Once the orientation is completed, email the VWC tutor with your available times. The tutor will respond to your request within 24 hours.
