Who Are We?
The Writing Specialists at the KCC Writing Center are specially trained English faculty members. The Writing Center is offered as a free resource to all KCC students under the auspices of Tutorial Services.
What Services Do We Offer to Writers?
The Writing Center offers free, personal, one-on-one writing assistance with no appointment necessary to all students at KCC. If you would like to ensure a specific time, please call the Tutoring Center at (989) 275-5000, Ext. 246 or Ext. 403, in advance to make an appointment.
We can help you at any stage of your writing process:
- Starting: Understanding assignments, brainstorming, discussing and developing ideas
- Drafting: Finding a focus, choosing a purpose, targeting an audience, developing a thesis or an argument
- Revising: Improving your paper's organization, expanding ideas, improving clarity and cohesion
- Researching: Finding a topic and choosing search terms, conducting searches (on the Internet and the library catalogue), evaluating sources, integrating material into your essay, documentation styles and citations
- Polishing: We cannot edit a paper for you, but we will help you learn how to find and correct errors in punctuation, usage, and grammar.
Online Writing Lab (OWL)
We also provide online writing feedback if you are unable to make it to campus through our Online Writing Lab (OWL).
