Planning what to do for the rest of your life is not an easy task, especially if you are only 16 years old! This Week @ Kirtland, we tried to make it easier for more than 100 local high school juniors and seniors as they navigate their journey down the path toward selecting a career.
On Friday, Kirtland hosted students from Mio and Houghton Lake High Schools for a Junior/Senior Career Day, giving them the opportunity to delve into career fields that might be of interest to them. The Career Day started with a quick overview of the day’s event in the Roscommon Student Center. From here, students ventured out on their own and selected three different career fields to learn more about.
More than 25 Kirtland faculty members teamed up to present on areas of interest including: Agriculture, Arts, Automotive, Business Management, Cosmetology, Education, Health Sciences, Marketing, Manufacturing, STEM, Information Technology and Public Safety. What a great way for these local high school students to get a closer look into some fields of employment that are especially interesting to them!
The day wrapped up with lunch in the Student Center and Kirtland Grille…and plenty of “food for thought” as these students start thinking about what the future holds for them.
