Below you’ll find a checklist of information that will guide you through the enrollment process, and we’re here for you if you have any questions.
Accepted Online Student Checklist
Activate your student account and check your KMail
The acceptance letter you received in the postal mail includes your student ID, account access information and details about documents you need to turn in.
Do not wait to activate your account! Make sure to remember your password – you will need to login multiple times on multiple devices. Plan to check your KMail often. Kirtland will send important information about your student account and finances to your KMail.
Request transcripts be sent directly to Kirtland
You must have your high school and college transcripts sent to Kirtland for evaluation prior to registering for your classes. Request that an official copy of your transcript(s) be sent directly to:

Completing FAFSA is how you get grants, loans or work study
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). APPLY EARLY! It takes time to process.

Proof of residency documentation is required
Acceptable proof includes: driver’s license, verifiable rent receipts (if rent receipts are not available, a notarized letter from the landlord will be accepted), a dated lease agreement, voter’s registration card, place of residence property tax receipt, or Secretary of State identification card. Verifiable rent receipts must contain all the following information: the address of the property being rented; the date of payment; signature, address and phone number of the landlord. These documents can be emailed to email@example.com.
Orientation – Review Online Student Handbook

This orientation is in a handbook format and will always be available for you to go back to if you have questions. Please keep it marked as a reference to help with your student questions as well as finding things on the website.
Do you have placement in order that will enable you to register for classes?
Following your acceptance you will receive a link in your KMail to do an online orientation. It will take less than 30 minutes to complete and will make sure you have access to information that will answer all of your new student questions. Completing the orientation is the fast track to the advising/registration step.
Introduction to Canvas
After you have been registered in a class, you’ll need to complete the required Introduction to Canvas course. An invitation to take this mandatory online course will be sent to your KMail account once you are registered for your first class(es). You will be given a deadline to complete the course and it will take about 3 hours.
