Director, Business and Information Systems Programs
Serves as the director of Kirtland Business and Information Systems Programs. Responsible for the organization and oversight of all courses, projects, internships, and activities related to the Business and Information Systems programs. Responsible for Business Program and Information Systems curriculum development, program evaluation, grant supervision, budget management, program faculty recruitment and development.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Coordinates the planning, administration, and development/revision of business, computer information systems, and related courses, including accreditation and collaboration opportunities
- Conducts annual review of business and information systems program offerings, analyzes evaluations, seeks input from faculty and the associated advisory committees.
- Assists in recruiting instructors and recommends employment. Ensures high quality, student-centered, effective learning environments
- Develops business and professional relationships, performs regular site visits to ensure quality placement of internships, assess potential job placement, assists in job placement
- Evaluates program instructors; meets regularly to ensure satisfaction and clear communication of expectations, supports professional development activities
- Actively seeks business relationships that expand the outreach of the college, develops training opportunities for workers and employers, and supports student opportunity and success
- Manages budgets for the business and information systems programs, and participates in strategic planning
- Teaches courses as part of the Business or Information System Programs during both the Fall and Winter semesters, with a minimum of 9 contact hours taught per semester. Additional contact hours taught beyond the required minimum will be paid at the part-time faculty pay schedule
- Coordinate programs and initiatives that enhance the student experience and increase retention rates in the Business and Information System Programs
- Contribute to the life and culture of the College by serving on governance committees, task forces and participating in other professional development activities
- Contribute to College long-range and strategic planning as well as accreditation
- Works as university liaison between Kirtland and other four year universities at the University Center
- Office primarily located at Kirtland Gaylord
- Performs other related tasks as required their supervisor
ATTENDANCE – Individuals in this position are expected to be generally available during the normal business hours of the college, and may occasionally be asked to vary their schedule to meet department requirements. May at times require evening and/or weekend activity and travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS – Conditions may vary from a typical office or classroom environment. Individuals in this position must be cognizant of student’s understanding and progress, able to communicate effectively with students and associated professionals, and able to operate technical equipment in a modern classroom or online environment. Individuals must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of client personnel. Regional travel under occasional late night and/or poor weather conditions.
SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the vice-president for instruction
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in business or related field
- Three to five years’ experience in business management, with instructional experience, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position
- Proficiency in standard office and instructional software applications
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills
- Valid driver’s license
