Esports Coach
Responsible for all matters pertaining to the Kirtland Community College Esports program and supporting the academic success of the student athletes.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- The Esports program is expected to recruit student-athletes that can be successful academically and socially at Kirtland Community College.
- Ensures that the Kirtland Esports program conforms with the standards and requirements of the college schedules, coordinates, and is present at all practice sessions.
- Ensures ongoing eligibility of student-athletes in the Esports program and monitors their academic programs.
- Responsible for submitting preliminary budget, schedule, travel and equipment needs for men and women’s Esports. Follows all rules and guidelines of the College and in accordance with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).
- Responsible for the behavior of team members at events that fall within the purview of this position. Ensures a high level of ethics, respectable demeanor, and teamwork at all times.
- Management of Esports team arena, including maintenance of equipment.
- Directs and coordinates all Esports meets hosted by the college.
- Foster a positive image for the College.
- Abide by all standards, rules, and regulations of the College.
- Responsible for understanding, supporting, and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission, vision, and being in agreement to be evaluated by the same.
- Oversight of team inventory, including; uniforms, arena equipment, etc.
- Performs other related tasks as required.
SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the Athletic Director.
ATTENDANCE – Individuals in this position are expected to be present and available at all scheduled meets and practice sessions, to assist with recruitment, and to be generally available for advice and counsel to students participating in the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a thorough understanding of the sport
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and maintain discipline with student athletes
- Ability to work effectively with others in an educational setting.
