Lab Coordinator, Science
Provides support to the instructional division of the college by assisting faculty and students in the teaching and learning process. Works under the direct supervision of fully qualified science faculty members utilizing established criteria.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Plan, prepare, and organize lab material
Ensure that adequate instructional materials are available to meet course objectives. This may include maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment; preparing and submitting requests for instructional materials, supplies, and equipment to the faculty; etc.
May perform leader role with student workers
Assist faculty in maintaining proper, safe instructional environment
Assist faculty during lab time
Communicate with faculty regarding student progress and other matters related to student welfare
Document student progress and maintain required records related to classroom and/or laboratory experience in the college and/or cooperating agencies
Maintain budget, schedule, and all related lab records
Work with students to reinforce objectives of the course
Maintain live plant and animal specimens required for instruction and/or outreach
Perform or obtain maintenance for lab equipment
May perform supplemental instruction for students, depending on need, schedule, and qualifications
May serve on committees critical to Kirtland
Participate in professional development
Assist faculty and Kirtland with community outreach
Perform other duties as assigned by faculty or administrators necessary to meet course objectives
SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of qualified science faculty members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree
- Familiarity with processes and equipment appropriate to a science lab
- Ability to communicate effectively in an educational setting
