POL 5.350 Emeritus/Honoraire Status
Eligibility – Emeritus status
The title “emeritus” will be granted to each faculty member or administrator who retires directly from Kirtland Community College into the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System and who has completed ten consecutive years of service at Kirtland Community College.
Privileges
- Receive a framed certificate of the board of trustees’ resolution that confers emeritus status.
- Receive a scholarship covering tuition for one course or covering a fee for one non-credit class per semester. This scholarship may be used by the person who has been awarded emeritus status or by a member of that person’s immediate family.
Emeritus are especially welcome to use the public facilities of the college, are invited to maintain current contact information so to receive information on college events and social functions, and will be afforded such other courtesies and privileges as are consistent with college policies and procedures.

The title “honoraire” will be granted to each classified staff member who retires directly from Kirtland Community College into the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System and who has completed ten consecutive years of service at Kirtland Community College. Members of the Board of Trustees who serve on the board for ten consecutive years will also be granted honoraire status
