Surgical Technology. Excellence at a glance.
Surgical technologists make surgeries possible. We urgently need them!
They’re often health science professionals who stay behind the scenes, but surgical technologists are on the front lines of life-saving procedures. These are the men and women who assist surgeons with surgical procedures and ensure that the surgery is safe and sterile for patients. Whether it’s a planned procedure or an emergency surgery, surgical technologists are a vital part of the surgical team.
And there aren’t enough of them.
Career Best-Fits: Curious, Organized, Team-Oriented, and Precise
For those interested in pursuing a medical career that puts you on the front-lines, surgical technology is an excellent possibility. The field requires meticulous attention to precision and the ability to handle high-pressure situations as part of a team. You will literally have lives in your hands, and they depend on your focus, composure, and skill.
Surgical technologists interact with their patients in very different ways than nurses or medical assistants. Their roles are incredibly hands-on and dynamic and best-fits for those who are interested in human anatomy and can handle being close up to the sights and sounds of surgery.
An investment that pays you back immediately
Currently, qualified surg techs are in such high-demand, that there’s an employer bidding war to hire them. Local hospital systems are paying up to $25,000 in sign-on bonuses to attract the best talent onto their surgical teams. And that’s just what we’re seeing in central and northern Michigan!
Kirtland’s surgical technology program can be completed in two years. You’ll invest time and dedication into the program, but you’ll pay less than $13,000 in tuition and fees. Most students are eligible for financial aid that covers most or all of their Kirtland costs.
That means you can earn more than double your financial investment as soon as you accept the job of your choice. Our program is accredited and highly-regarded by area employers—over 90% of our graduates are employed in the field.
Kirtland’s Surg Tech Program: A Best Kept Secret with No Waitlist
Only 18 students are accepted into Kirtland’s program each year, making it one of the most exclusive for the College. With a 100% pass rate on the National Certification Exam for the last two years, one of the highest-regarded faculty members in the Country, and a 90% job placement rate, the program is also one of the College’s most high-profile.
Still, the program has no waitlist because we are committed to offering accessible, affordable education and meeting the urgent need for surgical technologists.
