POL 6.056 Residency
It is the policy of Kirtland Community College to assess tuition rates based on the residence address of each student.
- In-District tuition rate – is assessed to students whose residence address lies within the boundaries of the Kirtland District, who own property within the Kirtland District, or whose parents/guardians own property within the Kirtland District.
- Students residing in On-Campus housing, excluding international students, will be charged the In-District tuition rate.
- Otsego County residents taking in-person courses at the Gaylord site will be assessed In-District tuition rates.
- Out-of-District tuition rate – is assessed to students whose residence address lies within Michigan but outside of the Kirtland District.
- Out-of-State tuition rate – is assessed to students whose residence address is outside of Michigan.
- International tuition rate – is assessed to students who are not U.S. citizens but attend Kirtland Community College under an F-1, J-1, or J-2 visa.
- A student who is a Resident Alien of the U.S. (possessing an unexpired Permanent Resident card) will be assessed in the same manner as if they were a U.S. citizen.
- Any individual using educational assistance under either Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty Program), Chapter 35 (Survivor and Dependents Benefits), Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill®), of title 38, United States Code, and/or the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (38 U.S.C. § 3311 (b)(9)) who live in the State of Michigan while attending Kirtland Community College (regardless of their formal state of residence) will be considered out-of-district.
