Public Safety
Kirtland Public Safety Officers are certified officers through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. In addition personnel are trained in a vast array of training programs such as firearms, interviewing, crisis response and less than lethal force to name a few. The Kirtland Public Safety officer’s jurisdiction covers anywhere on either campus, plus adjoining public roadways.
OK2SAY is a program designed to empower Michigan students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, and law enforcement to share and respond to student safety threats.
You probably won’t realize the Public Safety officers are all around Kirtland — until you need one.

Campus Security Report
As required under the Jeanne Clery Act (20 U.S.C. § 1092(f)), each year the college is required to prepare an Annual Security Report of crime statistics that were committed on Kirtland campuses, in or on a non-campus building or property, or on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus, and inform employees where this information can be located. The report prepared by the Kirtland Department of Public Safety is located at https://www.kirtland.edu/campus-security-report.
Anyone may obtain a paper copy of the Annual Security Report through the Public Safety Department office or by calling 989-275-5000, Ext. 322. There is no fee charged for this report.
