In our Medical Assistant program, you’ll learn both clinical and administrative skills, preparing you to be a vital part of a healthcare team. You’ll get hands-on experience while learning patient care skills, procedures, and teamwork. The program prepares you for a career in outpatient medical facilities where you will work directly with medical providers to offer professional patient care.

What’s distinctive about our Medical Assistant program?
- We offer both a part time and a full time program
- You’ve got options! Choose either a certificate or associate degree. Or, complete your certificate degree first, then complete the associate degree later on your own time. It’s online!
- If you are full time, the certificate degree can be completed in less than a year!
- Upon program completion, you can be dual certified with both RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) and RPT (Registered Phlebotomy Technician) certificates.
- If you ever want to further your education, it’s a perfect stepping stone toward other healthcare careers. This program includes college credit courses.
- You’ll learn at our industry-current Health Sciences Center in Grayling using the newest equipment and technology.

I was a CNA for 10 years and I was ready for change. I began taking courses that would qualify me for the Medical Assistant program.
Once I found out I was accepted in the program, I was very excited and nervous all at the same time. I had to work full-time and take several classes! I quickly realized I needed to take this program one day at a time! I had many doubts, but the instructor’s guidance kept my confidence and goals on track.
Now I can say I’m a Registered Medical Assistant. I’m working as a Phlebotomist and as an MA. This has been the most rewarding accomplishment I have ever done for myself!

My goal is to encourage and train Medical Assistant students so they can easily transition into a professional job that is satisfying and productive. It’s a role that I take very seriously, but I also strive to make it enjoyable by using “real-life” scenarios as a learning experience. We have fun while learning and we practice until we are proficient. Putting our knowledge into action in the lab is what prepares our students to be the best.
Upon completion of the MA program, our students are eligible and qualified to take the national RMA exam. We are proud to say that our Kirtland MA students have a 100% pass rate and have been able to secure jobs as soon as they graduate.
