In our CNC Machinist program, you will learn to operate and program computer numerical control (CNC) machines to create precise parts and components. You’ll gain skills in reading blueprints, using measuring instruments, and troubleshooting machine malfunctions. 

Our CNC Machinist program includes:

  • CNC Machinist (CC)

A CNC Machinist operates and programs CNC machines, which are used to create precise parts and components for various industries. Using computer software and equipment, you’ll be responsible for turning raw materials like metal or plastic into finished products by following blueprints and technical drawings. CNC machinists are skilled in selecting the right tools, measuring parts, and ensuring the accuracy of their work. You’ll work in environments such as manufacturing plants, aerospace, automotive, and industrial production settings.

Please Note
*All costs listed are estimated and are subject to change at any time. Students will receive final costs at the time of course registration each semester.

At the end of the program students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate competency in their ability to operate machine shop equipment: lathes, mills, grinders, and drills.
  • Demonstrate competency in their ability to read and interpret blueprints per industry standards.
  • Successfully demonstrate their ability to process and plan a piece part through the lab until completion.
  • Demonstrate competency in CNC machine tool operation and programming.
  • Practice the skills needed to be successful in the metal working industry and to be safety conscious and accountable to himself/herself and the safety of others.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively while responding appropriately to a variety of processes common to the precision machining industry.
  • Be able to work with others and think as a team member to solve problems that could affect long-range outcomes of specific projects.

State licensing or Industry Certification is not required for employment in this occupational area but it may be available and useful to strengthen a student’s application for positions. Please see a faculty member for more information about certifications.
