Kirtland Invites Local Students and Universities to College Fair Exhibition
Forty colleges and universities will be joined by over four hundred local school district students and U.S. Armed Forces representatives, at Kirtland Community College for a college fair event taking place at their Grayling campus on Oct. 4.
“College planning is a huge endeavor and we are delighted to host this college fair to provide area high school students the opportunity to talk with college and military representatives as well as to learn about financial aid resources,” said Kirtland’s Admissions Recruitment Specialist Teresa Money.
The college fair will be held in the newly built Dr. Thomas Quinn Event Center from 9a.m.-11a.m… The four hundred students registered currently for the event are pulled from the Intermediate School District (ISD) of Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, and Roscommon (C.O.O.R). These students will meet with representatives from state colleges and universities to include, but not limited to, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, Albion College, and Kirtland Community College. Representatives from the U.S. Armed Forces will also be in attendance to discuss with students about educational opportunities offered through military service.
“The purpose of Kirtland’s college fair is to help connect local high school students with colleges and universities from across the state. Our goal is to provide students access to as many colleges and universities as we can,” said Kirtland’s Vice President of Student Services/Registrar Michelle Vyskocil. “Students will have the opportunity to meet college representatives and get their questions answered about each campus, admissions policies, scholarships, and financial aid.”
Not only is Kirtland’s college fair geared around introducing students to possible future educational homes, but also to give insight into financial aid, scholarships, housing accommodations, and programs offered at each institution. Organizations such as Michigan Student Aid will be at the fair to help students answer financial questions such as how to apply for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
“This [Kirtland’s college fair] is a great opportunity not only for students to talk to college representatives, but also to learn and ask about FAFSA as well as financial aid and scholarship opportunities,” said Money. For more information or how to get involved with Kirtland’s college fair, contact Teresa Money at [email protected] or by phone at 989-275-5000 Ext: 258.
