Electrician

In our Electrician program, you’ll learn to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You’ll gain hands-on experience with wiring, circuits, troubleshooting, and safety protocols. By mastering electrical codes and using specialized tools, you’ll be prepared to work in a variety of environments and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

Our Electrician program includes:

  • Electrician (AAS)
  • Electrician (CC)

An Electrician is a skilled tradesperson who installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in homes, businesses, and industrial settings. They can work with wiring, outlets, lighting, circuits, electrical panels, and industrial contols, ensuring systems function safely and efficiently. Electricians troubleshoot electrical issues, follow blueprints, and adhere to safety codes to prevent hazards. The work can range from installing new electrical systems to performing routine maintenance or emergency repairs.

Electrician, AAS, CC

  • Read and interpret electrical and control systems documentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial, residential, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Interpret and apply the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and Michigan Electrical laws.
  • Utilize industry-standard electrical testing tools and techniques.
  • Implement effective safety practices in electrical and automation environments.
  • Install and configure process instrumentation systems.
  • Wire and maintain communication low-voltage systems.
  • Apply advanced skills in design, programming, and troubleshooting.

Curriculum applies toward Michigan mechanical license

NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) certifications available – Electrical Level 1, 2, 3, and 4. COR certifications, which include: basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging, communication skills, employability skills, and materials handling.
