Heather Appold

Executive Director of the Kirtland Foundation and Kirtland Gaylord

Heather Appold started with Kirtland Community College in August of 2022.  Hired as the Director of the Kirtland Foundation, she works closely with its board to secure financial support for the College and its students.  In July 2025, Heather added to her duties by being named the Executive Director of the Kirtland Foundation and Kirtland’s location in Gaylord.  In addition to Foundation responsibilities, she will also oversee day to day operations of the Gaylord site and strengthen community relationships.

Heather has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University and held various roles in the non-profit sector.  The past 20 years her work has been in philanthropy with a focus on the healthcare setting.  Heather also has experience in leadership as a coordinator at Covenant Healthcare and volunteer firefighter.

Moving to northern Michigan in 2018 with her husband and son has been a great decision.  The all outdoors aspect of the area takes the family on many fun adventures.  You can find Heather enjoying college football and cheering for all things MSU-Go Green!
