Trade Up With Tuition-free College Through Michigan Reconnect
Earn a degree or certificate and trade your job for a career
It’s never too late to go back to school. Now, with the Michigan Reconnect program, you can earn a degree or certificate tuition-free. If you’ve been thinking about a new career in the trades — Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, HVAC/R, Welding and Fabricating, Wood Science Technology, Technology Management and more — now’s the time.
The professional trades programs at Kirtland Community College are designed to place graduates in high-paying careers, fast. And with the Michigan Reconnect program, eligible adults can attend tuition-free. If you’re a 25-year-old Michigan resident with a high school diploma and no college degree, you can get started immediately. Michigan Reconnect will pay for your training so when you enter your new career in manufacturing, construction and more, you won’t be burdened with college debt.
This is your chance to take the next step toward a lucrative career. Skilled tradespeople are in high demand in northern Michigan and across the country. There’s a shortage of skilled workers in our country. Just watch this PBS Newshour piece on skilled tradespeople and the economy to see how valuable you can be. A degree or certificate from Kirtland will give you the skills and respect to enter a fulfilling and secure career — and future.
In order to be eligible for Michigan Reconnect, adults must meet the following criteria:
- Age 25 or older
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Michigan resident for at least one year
- Not yet completed a college degree (associate or bachelor’s)
Reconnect with your college dream. An education beyond high school opens the door to many new opportunities.
