Kirtland Community College to Host COVID-19 Testing Site
Kirtland Community College is offering free COVID-19 testing for students, staff and the public. The testing site, operated in partnership with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, is among 12 neighborhood testing sites currently open across the state.
New National Accreditation Strengthens Kirtland’s Nursing Program
Kirtland Community College strengthened its leadership role in healthcare education with a new national accreditation. The Kirtland Community College associate degree in nursing program is now accredited by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). This accreditation opens doors for Kirtland graduates at additional clinical sites in the area, and with employers statewide and across the country who require national accreditation, including with Veterans Affairs.

Executive order allows Kirtland nursing students to complete credits for graduation virtually
On March 29, Governor Whitmer signed an executive order temporarily lifting certain restrictions on the provision of medical services, leading the Michigan Board of Nursing to allow nursing students from Kirtland Community College, and colleges across Michigan, to count all online classes toward the overall credit required for graduation. 42 Kirtland nursing students will now be eligible to enter the workforce in May 2020.
Kirtland Community College approves sale of West Branch campus location
Kirtland Community College has approved the sale of its former campus location in West Branch to Iosco Regional Educational Service Agency (IRESA), an agency offering specialized education programs. IRESA plans to use the building for the Alternative Educational Academy, serving at-risk youth in Ogemaw County and surrounding counties.
Kirtland Foundation welcomes students to new Path to Success program
Last week, Kirtland Community College welcomed 19 seventh grade students from Houghton Lake, Roscommon and St. Helen schools into the Kirtland Foundation’s new Path to Success program at an induction ceremony on December 10.
