In our Associate in Accounting transfer program, you will learn foundational accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and auditing. The program is designed to equip you with the skills needed for an entry-level accounting role and prepares you for advanced study at a four-year college or university. With a focus on real-world applications and problem-solving, this degree makes it easier for you to transition smoothly into a bachelor’s program in accounting or a related field.

Our Associate in Accounting transfer program includes:

  • Associate in Accounting (ACA)

An Associate in Accounting program provides you with the foundational knowledge necessary to understand financial accounting, cost accounting, tax principles, and managerial accounting. You’ll develop skills in analyzing financial statements, using accounting software, and preparing reports for businesses and organizations. The curriculum is designed to prepare you for entry-level positions in accounting and finance or for seamless transfer to a four-year college or university to further your education.

Pursuing an Associate in Accounting degree opens doors to various career opportunities in both public and private sectors, such as accounting assistant, bookkeeper, or tax preparer. It offers job stability, competitive salaries, and opportunities for advancement, with the possibility to specialize in areas such as auditing or taxation. At the end of this program the student will be able to:

  • Apply accounting standards such as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and appropriate managerial accounting systems.
  • Apply critical thinking skills that demonstrate awareness of the importance accounting professionals play a vital role in ensuring ethical standards and address corruption.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess information without personal bias and work to engage and develop a team in a growth minded environment designed to accomplish goals.
  • Apply basic business strategic knowledge and demonstrate the use to assess common business problems and formulate effective and measurable solutions.
  • Compose diverse forms of communications and interact professionally in business and education environments.

State licensing or Industry Certification is not required for employment in this occupational area but it may be available and useful to strengthen a student’s application for positions. Please see a faculty member for more information about certifications.
