This pathway is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in fields that require a biology major. Biology covers a wide variety of careers that can be loosely grouped into two main categories: Microorganism/Cellular Processes Based Careers and Organismal & Ecology Based Careers.
Microorganism/Cellular Process Based Careers can lead to:
- Domestic animal & agricultural research careers such as soil scientist, food technologist, toxicologists, parasitologists with state and federal agencies, non-profits & private agencies, fermentation scientists in food production, etc.
- Industrial research careers such as fermentation production of industrial solvents, biochemists, biotechnologist, industrial hygiene and safety, etc.
- Human health research careers such as geneticist, genetic counselor, pharmacologist, biomedical engineer, biomanufacturing, etc.
Organismal & Ecology Based Careers can lead to:
- Wildlife or forestry management careers such as conservationists, park rangers/naturalists, wildlife rehabilitation specialists, etc.
- Domestic animal or agricultural management could include animal trainers/nutritionists, food inspectors, range animal or plant breeders, etc.
