Criminal Justice Transfer Pathway | Kirtland Community College

Kirtland’s Criminal Justice pathway will successfully prepare you for your transfer to a four year university. Continuing your education and completing your undergraduate degree will allow students to enter criminal justice careers in federal law enforcement such as the FBI, DEA, ATF, Homeland Security, and Secret Service. Four year degrees also assist those in local, county and state law enforcement to promote to higher ranks and further their growth within their respective agencies.

BIO 20000 – Fundamentals of Nutrition (3 cr.)

CJS 10000 – Introduction to Criminal Justice (3 cr.)

CJS 10900 – Introduction to Corrections (3 cr.)

CJS 11000 – Legal Issues in Corrections (3 cr.)

CJS 11400 – Juvenile Justice (3 cr.)

CJS 17200 – Client Relations in Corrections (3 cr.)

CJS 21800 – Criminal Law (3 cr.)

CJS 24000 – Criminology (3 cr.)

CJS 24500 – Social Deviant Behavior (3 cr.)

ENG 10303 English Composition I OR ENG 10305 Integrated Composition (3-4 cr.)

HUM 20500 – The Individual and Society (3 cr.)

MTH 13000 or higher (4 cr.) (Math course should be chosen based on transfer needs. See academic advisor for assistance.)

PHL 21000 – Introduction to Ethics (3 cr.)

PSY 10100 – Introduction to Psychology (3 cr.)

SOC 10100 – Introduction to Sociology (3 cr.)

SPE 11401 Interpersonal Communication (3 cr.)

Total core pathway credit hours: 50-51

The student will then select additional electives to reach a minimum of 60 credit hours in consultation with an advisor and the desired transfer college/university.

Social Science:

SOC 23500 – Racial, Cultural, & Ethnic Diversity – 3 cr.

If the student’s schedule permits, taking available courses during the summer can lessen fall and winter semester course loads.
