View our “HOW TO” VIDEOS for info on how to do each of these steps
STEP DETAILS
Step 1
Initiate your student account and Kirtland email (KMail)
Your Student ID number and KMail email address will be sent to you in an email from the Kirtland Admissions Office. Please go to the Kirtland website (www.kirtland.edu), hover over (or tap on if on mobile) the Sign In link in the main menu and select Activate Account, and then select the First Time User link. Enter your KMail address where prompted for an email. Continue the activation process until complete and you have set up your password and security questions. If you need assistance with this step, please call 989-275-5000, ext. 499.
Step 2
Complete and submit Dual/Concurrent Enrollment Form
Meet with your high school counselor to complete your dual/concurrent enrollment form. The form MUST be signed by you, your parent/legal guardian (if you’re under the age of 18), and your high school counselor or principal. This form must be turned in to your high school counselor.
Your high school counselor will forward your Dual/Concurrent Enrollment Form and placement information to Kirtland. Placement information will include the high school transcript and SAT/ACT/PSAT score report.
Once your Dual/Concurrent Enrollment Form is completed and submitted with the placement information, Kirtland will register you for classes that your placement allows.
Step 3
Confirm course details
Review your course schedule and details in myKirtland.
Visit Kirtland’s key academic dates page for more details including breaks, drop and withdraw deadlines, etc.
NOTE: The Kirtland Academic Calendar (including breaks) is often different from high school calendars. Be sure to plan ahead to keep current with your Kirtland course(s).
Step 4
Purchase books/materials
Before purchasing books, check with your high school counselor for your school policy on purchasing books. Then if needed, visit the Kirtland Campus Store and the online Bookstore to purchase your materials.
Step 5
Explore Introduction to Canvas
After you have been registered in a class, you’ll be enrolled into an Introduction to Canvas course. This course is recommended for any student who is not familiar with Canvas or who would like a refresher on how to navigate this learning management system. Once you are enrolled for classes you will see a link to the Canvas training on your student dashboard. You will have access to this helpful resource throughout your time as a Kirtland student for reference.
Step 6
Go to class and get involved
The Kirtland Community College Library is a great place to study and find resources to help with your studies, whether they be in person or online.
Visit Tutoring to see the resources that are available to you. Download the dual/concurrent enrollment student handbook.
