PRO 2.140 Tobacco-Free Facilities
The responsibility for implementing this policy lies with each individual in the Kirtland Community College community. Successful implementation will require the understanding, consideration and cooperation of students, staff, and visitors to campus.
In addition, violators of the tobacco-free facilities policy will be subject to disciplinary action, as specified in POL 6.125 Rights and Responsibilities of Students and POL 5.100, Compliance with College Policies. Visitors refusing to comply will be asked to leave the college grounds.
Kirtland Community College will offer and promote programs and services to assist students and staff to decrease or stop tobacco use.
This policy will be communicated in the following manner:
- Signs shall be posted on every entrance to every college facility stating: “Smoking or the use of other tobacco products is prohibited. Use of any tobacco products may occur only in personal vehicles.
- Signs shall be posted in every college vehicle stating “Smoking or use of other tobacco products is prohibited in this vehicle”.
- This policy shall be placed in the student handbook, personnel handbook, and any other appropriate college publication.
