PRO 4.050 Library Materials
Overdue notices are sent out one week after materials become overdue. If items are not returned by the following Friday, the patron receives an invoice from the library indicating the replacement value of the materials. For students, an LT hold is placed on their record in the student information system. The student cannot register for classes or obtain an academic transcript until the matter is resolved.
Any monies collected as donations or overdue fines will be placed in a locked cash box and given to the Student Financial Services Office quarterly. Funds are receipted to the agency fund so that replacement materials can be purchased.
If after two weeks, the patron has not responded and the replacement value is $50 or greater, copies of the notices are given to the Public Safety Office. The patron will be contacted by phone.
If the items have not been returned after three weeks or the Public Safety Office is unable to reach the patron, the paperwork is sent to the Student Financial Services Office Supervisor.
The replacement costs for books, calculators, etc. will be tracked as an outstanding receivable and collection procedures will be followed. Once the account has been turned over to collections, the patron (student or public) must resolve the matter with the Student Financial Services Office.
