Michigan Achievement Scholarship

A degree from Kirtland Community College just became even MORE affordable and attainable. Starting in 2023, eligible incoming freshman can apply for a Michigan Achievement Scholarship and obtain more financial aid toward their tuition costs.
Announced by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan Achievement Scholarship is a new intuitive focused on providing additional college tuition aid. Beginning with 2023 Michigan high school graduates, roughly 8 out of 10 incoming freshmen will be eligible for the scholarship and need only to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to apply. All incoming freshmen that are eligible will see their state Michigan Achievement Scholarship awarded along with all other federal student aid in the Fall 2023 semester.
The Michigan Achievement Scholarship awards up to $2,750, for three years, for potential students wanting to attend a community college.
Listed below is a summary of important information pertaining to the eligibility requirements of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship provided to date:
- Roughly 80% of Michigan high school graduates will qualify for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship
- Students must graduate from high school with a diploma or certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after to be eligible
- All wanting to apply for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship must fill out and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Students applying must have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $25,000 or less according to FAFSA
- The Michigan Achievement Scholarship requires eligible students to have a minimum full-time (12 credit hours) enrollment
- Eligible students must be enrolled in their future college or university within 15 months of completing high school
