PRO 5.360 Overtime Compensation
Necessary overtime work must be authorized by the immediate supervisor. Supervisors must make every reasonable effort to control the use of overtime and to prevent its indiscriminate use.
All overtime shall be listed separately for each employee on the employee’s time sheet.
Overtime shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half the base rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
Paid time off (holidays, vacation days, business days, sick days, etc.) are not counted as time worked in the calculation of overtime. Paid time off as a result of emergency closings (snow days, electrical outages, etc.) will be counted as time worked in the calculation of overtime.
Use of compensatory time, as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act, is prohibited by employees of the college. Employees may utilize flextime to shift their work schedules with pre-approval from their supervisor, so long as such changes do not result in unapproved overtime.
Once underpayments are identified, they will be corrected in the next regular paycheck. Overpayments will also be corrected in the next regular paycheck unless this presents a burden to the employee (where there is a substantial amount owed). In that case, the payroll department will attempt to arrange a schedule of repayments with the employee to minimize the inconvenience to all involved.
