Part-time Coordinator – Training and Compliance
Assists and advises employees and clientele of the college with federal, state, and board compliance matters; monitors federal and state legislation and rule-making, recommends policy and procedural additions and updates as appropriate, makes recommendations regarding employee training and professional development, prepares and delivers in-house memos and workshops as needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Is generally available by electronic or other means to answer questions regarding institutional compliance with federal, state, board, and contractual requirements, and concerning college practices.
Maintains awareness of relevant federal and state legislation and rule-making through online, listserve, professional journals, and other sources as may be appropriate, may view webinars and attend meetings, workshops and professional conferences as needed.
Reviews college policy and procedures, recommends and drafts new or revised policies and/or procedures as required.
Advises on institutional compliance with civil rights statutes and guidelines, coordinates compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended, Section 504, Title IX, and other provisions of civil rights and related employment legislation.
Reviews, authorizes, and recommends training opportunities and professional development for Kirtland Employees.
May investigate complaints of non-compliance, recommends corrective measures as appropriate; collaborates with those responsible for facilities to ensure equal physical access.
Coordinates the college disciplinary process, works closely with supervisors to ensure corrective action is applied equally, fairly, and appropriately, with due consideration for the dignity of the individual and legal requirements.
May investigate allegations of employee misconduct, maintains impartiality, assures all relevant facts are recorded and fairly considered, and that due process is provided.
Functions as FOIA Officer
May conduct hearings under the Code of Student Conduct
Performs other related tasks as required.
SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the college president
ATTENDANCE– Individuals in this position are expected to timely respond to compliance questions, and be periodically available for face-to-face communication as necessary and appropriate during the normal business hours of the college
WORKING CONDITIONS – Conditions are those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral and written communication with college employees, attorneys, and other professionals, and the ability to use electronic means to research and monitor legal and compliance issues and requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in business or public administration, human resources, or related field
- Five or more years of related experience, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position
- Proficiency with computerized communication and training programs
- Effective analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills
