Coordinator of the Kirtland Event Center
The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and
evaluating designated Kirtland events. The coordinator is responsible for developing
and disseminating information internally and externally about the Kirtland Event Center
and coordinating events attended by guests of the college. This position ensures
successful events and is responsible for promoting a positive college culture among
employees, students, and communities. This position focuses on developing events for
community use, recruiting students, internal support of community education, promoting
the college, and other responsibilities as assigned.
STATEMENT OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Serves as a contact person with community groups and individuals seeking
information about the college and its facilities. - Plans, schedules, coordinates, and evaluates events for community groups,
agencies, and individuals interested in sporting activities, youth sports camps,
and other similar events. The general goal of events is to produce a revenue
stream for the college. - Schedules college events on the Event Calendar in conjunction with the Athletic
Director, college coaches, the Facilities Maintenance Department, the ITS
Department, and other appropriate employees. - Supports and follows college policies and procedures while carrying out
Kirtland’s mission. - Works with other college departments and the Director of Auxiliary Services to
update the rental fee structure and apply the structure uniformly to all events. - Works with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other college
employees to publicize and evaluate college events. - Works in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the
college print shop, and other employees to produce brochures, programs, direct
mail pieces, digital ads, and other promotional media for planned events. - Establishes contacts and creates a rapport with area media representatives,
keeps them informed of college events and activities, and arranges for their visits
and interviews. - Consults with the college President about events planned for the college.
- Is supportive of events planned by other employees, including community
education courses, wellness activities, community use of the walking track,
Pickleball, other community activities, and other activities. - Be involved with the community at large and appropriate community
- organizations, and broaden social networking to benefit Kirtland.
- Develops and recommends an event center budget.
- Performs other related tasks as required.
SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the College President.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
● Three to five years of experience in a related field or combination of education and
experience commensurate with the requirements of this position
● Working familiarity with computerized word processing, spreadsheets, budgets,
and communication methods
● Demonstrated professional writing and oral communication skills
● Ability to network with Kirtland external communities, build relationships with
citizens and potential donors in a professional setting
● Possess excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
● Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently in both an office
and a physically extensive regional setting and function effectively in a team-
oriented professional environment
