Part-time Lead Tutor
Provides tutorial assistance for students. Conduct workshops and classroom or virtual presentations on topics to benefit college students. Markets tutoring services. Assists the Director of Library by training and mentoring new tutors and assist with other technical aspects of the tutoring program.
Duties
- Tutors students in individual or group settings, especially those with special learning needs.
- Conduct workshops and classroom presentations both face-to-face and virtually on topics such as study skills, time management, memory skills, test anxiety, etc. Develops materials for training sessions and tutoring sessions.
- Develops plans for and conducts marketing of tutoring services for both face-to-face tutoring and virtual/online tutoring. Â
- Recruits, trains, and mentors students and professional tutors.
- Schedule students requesting tutoring. Maintains required tutoring logs and records using the tutoring software. Compiles tutoring data for reports.
- Communicates with the faculty regarding student progress.
- Attends and participates in conferences, tutor training, and professional associations for tutors to benefit the tutoring program as recommended.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Documented successful tutorial experience as a tutor, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
- Commitment to helping community college students succeed.
- Experience using current office software to enter data and written communications in electronic formats in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to function independently, respect confidentiality, implement problem solving, and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Experience in the use of online conferencing software such as Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Major in English, Language Arts, or related field.
- Experience using tutoring software.
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Library Services & Tutoring.
Working Condition
May be asked to vary their schedule to meet department needs and requirements including working both face-to-face and online.
