POL 5.110 Public Civic Duty

Kirtland compensates its employees for performing the following civic duties:

• Jury duty
• Service as a trial witness
• Exercise other subpoenaed civil duties

Full-time positions will receive regular pay while performing a civic duty. Temporary and contractual employees are not paid for civic duty.

At the end of public service duty, the employee submits to the business office a statement from the court indicating pay received. Employees granted civic duty leave time shall remit any fees received from the court, to the college.

Kirtland does not pay civil duty time off for legal actions initiated by an employee or that name the employee as a defendant in a private legal action unrelated to Kirtland employment.
