1098-T Form
If you or your parents paid out-of-pocket for tuition, fees, or books this year, you may be eligible for federal tax credits like the American Opportunity Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit.
What is the 1098-T Form?
Kirtland provides the 1098-T form to help you determine your tax eligibility.
- What it shows: Total payments received for tuition and related fees (Box 1), including loans, grants, and scholarships.
- What it doesn’t show: It does not include every piece of info needed to claim a credit. You will use it alongside your own payment records to complete IRS Form 8863.
How to View Your 1098-T Form
- Log into MyKirtland.
- Select the Student tab.
- Locate the “My Account Detail” window on the right.

The 1098-T statement is available annually in the student portal by January 31 for the previous tax year.
Kirtland Community College staff cannot provide individual tax advice or calculate your credit for you. For help determining your eligibility, contact a professional tax advisor or visit www.irs.gov to view Publication 970 and Form 8863 instructions.
