Monthly Payment Plan

Kirtland partners with Nelnet Campus Commerce to help you spread your tuition and fees over manageable monthly installments.

Why Choose a Payment Plan?

  • Interest-Free: This is not a loan; there is no debt, no credit check, and no interest.
  • Lower Payments: The earlier you enroll, the more months you have to spread out your balance.
  • Convenient: Choose between automatic bank payments (ACH) or credit card (Visa, MC, Discover, Amex).

Plan Details

  • Minimum Balance: $100
  • Enrollment Fee: $50 per semester (non-refundable).
  • Payment Date: All installments are processed on the 5th of each month.
  • Down Payment: A down payment may be required depending on your enrollment date.

How to Enroll

Before you start, have your Student ID, bank/credit card info, and a valid email address ready.

  1. Log in myKirtland.
  2. Click the Student tab on the blue header.
  3. In the My Account Detail window, select the correct semester and click Submit.
  4. Click the “Make a Payment” link at the bottom of your bill and follow the on-screen instructions.

You will receive an immediate email confirmation once your application is processed.

Missed or Failed Payments

It is important to ensure funds are available by the 5th of each month to avoid additional costs.

  • Missed Installments: If a payment is missed, a $25 fee is automatically charged by Nelnet. The payment will be reattempted on the 20th of the month.
  • Additional Bank Fees: Please note that your personal bank or credit card company may charge separate overdraft or late fees.
  • Notifications: Nelnet will send a missed payment alert to the email address provided in your application.
  • Failed Down Payments: If your initial down payment fails, Nelnet will automatically terminate the agreement. You will be required to submit a new application to re-enroll in a payment plan.

Summer 2026 Semester Payment Plan Schedule:

Students Registering for Classes: April 6 – May 11

  • Payment Plan Enrollment Due By: May 11
  • Required Down Payment: 35%
  • Installments Due: June & July (on the 5th of each month)

Students Registering for Classes: May 12 – May 27

  • Payment Plan Enrollment Due By: Day of Registration
  • Required Down Payment: 35%
  • Installments Due: June & July (on the 5th of each month)

Students Registering for Classes: May 28 – June 25

  • Payment Plan Enrollment Due By: Day of Registration
  • Required Down Payment: 50%
  • Installments Due: July only (on the 5th of the month)

Fall 2026 Semester Payment Plan Schedule:

Students Registering for Classes: April 6 – July 1

  • Payment Plan Enrollment Due By: July 1
  • Required Down Payment: None
  • Installments Due: July – November (on the 5th of each month)

Students Registering for Classes: April 6 – August 3

Payment Plan FAQ

No one other than your own financial institution and you ever has access to your account. When you arrange to have an automatic payment through Nelnet Campus Commerce, you have authorized a specific payment amount to be paid on a specific date by your bank.

No. Nelnet acts as an agent for institutions in administering their payment plans. It is the policy of Nelnet to protect all personal and financial information provided to us by all participants. Nelnet does not sell or share any nonpublic personal information or client lists to any third party, except as agreed to by you, or as may be necessary to complete a transaction in the ordinary course of business, or as required under applicable law.

Once your agreement is posted to the system, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and you can access your Payment Plan account through myKirtland to review your scheduled payments dates and amounts. 

To help protect your privacy, Nelnet asks you to create an access code. If you should contact Nelnet via phone or the Web concerning your agreement, you will be required to verify your Access Code. If you do not create this code on your application, one will be randomly assigned to you.

Nelnet specifies the date each payment will occur but it’s up to your financial institution to determine the time of day the payments are debited. We recommend you check with your financial institution to determine how far in advance funds should be deposited into your account to ensure the payment clears.

If there is a balance remaining on your student account after the financial aid is applied, Nelnet will continue to process the payments (possibly a reduced payment) on your behalf until Kirtland Community College is paid in full. However, if the financial aid is equal to or greater than your expenses, Kirtland Community College will notify Nelnet that you are no longer required to make payments.

If the balance changes due to adding or dropping classes, the installment amount will automatically be updated by Kirtland’s Student Financial Services Office.

If the payment date falls on a weekend or banking holiday observed by the Federal Reserve, the payment will be attempted on the next business day. Although Nelnet specifies the date each payment will occur, it is the responsible party’s financial institution that determines the time of day the payment is debited to the account.

You can log into your Payment Plan account using the same link you enrolled at located in Mykirtland. Students can pay towards their next installment or completely pay off the balance at any time.

If you drop during the refund period, the college will notify Nelnet to cancel the agreement. If you drop classes after the refund period has ended, you will be responsible for the balance remaining on the account. Nelnet will continue to make payments on your behalf.
